CPS Membership Criteria and Benefits

Who can become a member?

Membership is available to any bonafide independent retailer. Generally Members are genuine hardware stores stocking a good range of hardware, such as Power tools, Hand tools, Gardening supplies, House paints, Fastenings, Shelf hardware & Builders hardware. Other specialty and niche category businesses can enjoy Membership of the Co-operative. The business must be a reseller to the end user and should have the stock range on display to the public with sales personnel on hand to service customers.

Prospective Members apply to purchase shares from CPS and apply to open a trading account with WA Hardware Services (WAHS). The applications will be placed before the CPS Board of Directors for approval.

Members maintain their independence while enjoying access to a comprehensive range of retail supply, marketing and business support services.

At CPS, we acknowledge that our Members value their independence. Therefore, we offer a number of different Membership options.

• General Membership
  General members carry out their business in the manner of their choosing while accessing CPS services and the full range of products at industry best pricing.
• Promotional Group Membership
  You also have the choice of joining one of two promotional groups that have been designed to provide the Member with a range of cost-effective marketing and promotional support options delivered with a flexibility which recognizes the various styles of operation within the group.

As a shareholder, you get your say

As a shareholder within the CPS co-operative, each Member has the right to vote on equal terms. One Member one vote, democratic Member control and Member economic participation are key principles of your co-operative.

Rewarding Shareholders and Member Loyalty

Trading arrangements with WAHS suppliers are structured to ensure maximum bottom line benefit are returned to Members. Applicable financial rewards are paid monthly. All Members are eligible to receive annual dividends and rebates.
